Girl on mountain top, Change Your Perspective, May's 5 VibrationWelcome to May and Mischievous Mercury moving back into forward motion again! Woo-hoo!

What a wonky April.

Yeah there was an enforced slow-down in effect thanks to Mercury being in retrograde until April 15th ... and then we were pulled into the swirling tidal pool of the Post-Mercury Retrograde Shadow for the rest of the month.

But that barely touches the surface of some of the energy that showed up in April.

While you might have had the urge to get stuff done, you may have had to stop, take a step back, double check and rearrange things. More than once!

Plans didn’t always work out as planned either. And tech misbehaving was also driving many of us bonkers. Weird stuff too:

Things are there, then not, then back again. Whoa.

Plus time slipped or galloped along.

People were pretty edgy or acting oddly. Nerves frayed.

So, even with all the weird, didya take some time in April to think about what you need to do to feel more secure and have a solid footing under you?

Did April provide a reality check for you in one or more areas of your life?

It did for me. I could clearly see where I was allowing a fixed point of view to seriously cramp my style.

Worked on (and working on) dissolving that sucker!

Frustration, tried patience and confusion may have invaded your life last month (or been a recurring dance partner this year).

I know I wrestled with those things. Not fun. And still a work in progress.

If you did too, cut yourself some slack.

Even when we think know better we fall into ruts when we function on auto pilot.

It’s ok.

Love the part of you who tripped and fell.

Please don’t beat up that beautiful soul.

Now let's move on to the Merry Month of May...

May ushers in the season for change and adventure, thanks to the fabulous 5 vibration.

The number 5 pokes and teases and playfully encourages you to change things up a bit.

If you’re feeling stuck in a rut, this month’s energy can help you break free.

It will require making a change of some kind.

Big or small.

Which leads me to the major theme for this May:

Change your perspective… and change your life!

In numerology, May is a 5 vibration month.

The characteristics of the number 5 are:

change, adaptability, flexibility, versatility, dramatic, adventurous,

exciting, energetic, interesting, flamboyant, physical, enthusiastic,

freethinking, futuristic, humorous, curious, inventive, creative,

free-spirited, freedom, travel, and communication of all kinds.

And we are in a 2 vibration year for 2018.

So it makes sense that the theme would be tied to seeing things from a different perspective.

Change being a big part of the 5 vibration... and duality and different points of view, different perspectives are components of the 2 vibration.

As some added fun, relationships, collaboration, partnerships, peace, and balance, are all part of 2018’s 2 vibration.

Soooooo...

you can expect the 5 vibration of May will be stirring the pot to mix things up a bit (or a lot) in some of those areas as well.

The 5 wants to play, have an adventure, travel, have more romance, and feel free and unencumbered.

The 5 energy loves to communicate and perform and express creatively.

Now that Mercury has gone direct (YAY!), communication lines are opening up again.

So you writers, poets, speakers, artists and musicians out there, tap into your Muse and let it flow!

The 5 energy teaches you flexibility and adaptability.

And...

The 5 vibration can “go squirrel” and start chasing down one bright shiny object after another.

If you are bored, uncertain or scared of whatever your next step is, well the 5 vibration may take you down one rabbit hole after the other to distract you from staying on task and on target.

Yes, have fun, be playful, don’t be a stick-in-the-mud… and follow through with your plans and ideas.

Perhaps turn them into a game or a give yourself a reward for accomplishing things that are in alignment with who you are and where you want to go.

Of course your personal numerology will factor into this, but generally speaking, for all of May pay attention to what needs to change in the following areas:

  • Your relationships (personal and professional)

  • The way you show up for yourself (or don't)

  • Expectations (What beliefs and outcomes are you attached to, what are you expecting from others, or yourself, that frustrates the crap outta you because it never seems to work out the way you wanted or hoped it would?!)

  • Your beliefs and view of the world and how it works (or doesn’t)

  • Your relationship with yourself, your body, your self-expression, your creativity, your spirit

Awareness of this is great.

Identify what no longer feels like a good fit for you and then make a plan to change it.

Sometimes changing how you react and interact in these areas will shift the whole thing back into alignment.

Other times, a more major change is required, such as walking away from a harsh relationship, leaving a soul-sucking job, or letting go of something or someone that isn’t working out no matter how much effort you put into it.

Often by changing your perspective on something, a new set of possibilities appears.

They were there all along, but you couldn’t see them because you were looking in a different direction.

Changing perspectives can be as simple as turning your head, or being open to different points of view (there is no “one way” to do it).

Changing your perspective might involve changing filters you have been viewing your world through.

Filters you might not be aware you have in place.

These filters come from your beliefs, your programming and conditioning from childhood, your need to be right, your insecurities, and a host of other things that make up your view of the world.

These filters limit your view of what is possible in any situation.

It is like looking through a tiny hole in a piece of paper and believing that what you see is all that exists.

If you put down the paper and looked out a large window, you now have a broader perspective of what is out there.

And if you were flying on the back of a huge Eagle, you’d see the world in new and wondrous ways.

And if you were orbiting the Earth in the Space Station, you’d let go of many of your fixed beliefs and begin to open to the miracles that are present every moment of every day.

It’s all in your perspective.

Change your perspective, change your life.

Simple. Ahh, yes, simple, and not always so easy to do.

A shift in your perspective could also reveal the truth to what is holding you back or keeping feeling stuck and confused.

And being willing to let go of it having to be a certain way could open the door to the clarity and solution you seek.

One way you can playfully start shifting your perspective is to invite childlike wonder into your life to help you see things in a different way and look at familiar objects as if seeing them for the first time.

I like doing this in nature. It is very nurturing and expansive!

You begin to see things you never realized were there before as you look closely at petals of a flower or blades of grass.

It starts to fill you with wonder and delight.

Each change you make from your normal routine starts opening new possibilities for you.

Play with going to work a different way, switch up the order of your daily rituals, and experiment with eating at different restaurants or ordering foods you’ve not tasted before.

I invite you to change your perspective on one thing in your life. Then notice what happens!

In addition to changing your perspective and opening up to other points of view, there might be a couple of other changes brewing in your life.

Your Soul might be whispering to you, inspiring you to make changes that are in alignment with your spirit and resonates with your soul.

So… What change or changes do you need to make?

What changes is your heart calling you to make?

What changes will slide you back into alignment with your authentic self?

If you’re unsure where to start… and yeah, you can play head games with yourself whenever you are contemplating making any changes… even when you know they are good for youhere’s a few places to look:

  • Anyplace you are feeling bored, stuck, constricted, restricted, or agitated

  • Situations, tasks and other things that you resist or procrastinate on

  • Thoughts, beliefs and habits that weigh you down and limit you

  • Your job, or your work

  • Your creative expression (or lack thereof)

  • Your living arrangements or environment

  • Recurring patterns and problems

In each of these areas where you resonate with something’s gotta change… use the power of curiosity (another 5 vibration trait) to help you get clarity. I like to ask one or more of these empowering and illuminating questions:

  • “I wonder what might really be going on here…”

  • “I wonder what this might really be about…”

  • “I wonder why I feel this way…”

  • “I wonder what my life would be like if I make this change…”

  • “I wonder what this might be trying to teach me…”

  • “I wonder why I am still holding on to this… what is it I want from this in order to be willing to finally I can let it go…

These wonderings are not to be answered by your beautiful and logical brain!

You allow intuition, hunches and gut feelings to fill in some of the blanks and notice what ideas pop into your mind, perhaps prompted by a song, or something you read or see, that sheds new light on the old situation.

[Please, only do this with your side of things.

When you attempt to do this to figure out why another person is doing whatever… well you are playing a dangerous game of assumptions.

You’re in your head and your ego will fill in the blanks from whatever you fear is the reason you’re so worried about it.

So only use ‘wonderings” about you and your life. Deal?!]

Change is how the Universe and everything in it grows and evolves.

Take inventory… do an internal and external check on what needs to change in order for you to enjoy your life more and feel better about yourself..

Now let’s take a brief look at the flip side of the Fabulous 5... the Shadow Side

The biggies are

  • Boredom, restlessness, and jealousy

  • Distractions, bright-shiny-object syndrome, fickleness and inability to focus

  • Impulsiveness, being temperamental and throwing your hands in the air and walking away from everything

  • And because we’re in a 2-year, impatience, over-sensitivity, illusion and confusion are also potential shadow dancers

Before throwing a tantrum or tossing in the towel, take a few centering breaths and do an internal check-in to see what is really going on.

What change might you require...

What tweaks could you do to begin restoring your balance and sense of direction again…

Adding fun to the mix helps too!

Some questions to ask yourself or journal about:

(No, you don't have to do them all, this isn't school, just pick the ones that stand out for you... this is to spark some new awareness or shift a perspective for you...)

What do I need to change in my life?

Where do I need to be more flexible?

What feels constricting to me?

Where, when or why do I feel bored?

Where would I like to travel to?

How can I be more adventurous?

What am I curious about? How can I indulge my curiosity?

What do I want to write about?

How can I devote more time to my writing?

What would I like to create?

How can I devote more time to my creativity?

What changes am I resisting? Why?

What do I need in order to adapt to these changes?

What can I do to feed my spirit?

What would interest me and excite me?

What can I do to allow myself to be more free-spirited?

How can I invite more romance and lightheartedness into my life?

What am I trying to control?

Where do I feel controlled?

What would make me feel free and alive?

Bottom Line:

Change your perspective on at least one thing.

Be open to new ideas. Be curious. Be flexible.

Add some romance or adventure and fun into your life.

Create and communicate.

Do more things that make you feel alive, light you up inside, and free your spirit. You have permission!

Invite wonder and your creative expression to inspire new ideas and perspectives. Play and explore and have fun!
