Are you & your business on same pageA curious thing happened to me in the midst of a numerology report on Friday.

I was working on a business numerology report for a client to help her determine the best, most advantageous name for her business.

To do this it also requires looking at her personal numbers: her destiny/life path numbers and her own name expression.

As I went about my calculations and analysis of how her numbers worked with the proposed business names

I had one of those cartoon light bulb moments.

And burst out laughing.

You see, I’ve been a numerologist a long time. And although I had done my homework on my own business names years ago, I made a rookie mistake.

Yes, I knew the numbers for my business – the different name expressions and their life path numbers (based on their file dates, which, for a business, acts as the birthdate for determining Destiny & Life Path numbers.)

And yes, when I was starting my business in 2008 and went through an exhaustive process of selecting a name for my over-arching corporation and then the different dba names I would be using in my day-to-day business operations.

And I know my own destiny & life path numbers and the name expressions for my name.

When I was working on my client’s report, I made a note in it saying that until I had her official start date I couldn’t provide her with the Destiny & Life Path numbers for her business or the relationship number for her and her business.

ZAP!

A lightning bolt of insight shot through me.

Relationship number!

Oh major duh! How could I have forgotten to do this for my own business?

Perhaps that’s where the key to my own weird struggle with my business lies.

And a voice in my head, with a dash of sarcasm, added “Ya, think!?!”

There are many layers to numerology, just like in astrology. You may know your numbers and even have an understanding about them, what they mean for you and how they work for you and where the shadow is and how to shift it when it rears up to knock you off course.

And as with the various signs and aspects in an astrology chart, in numerology it is in understanding the interaction between the numbers and being able to determine and interpret how they play together or  butt heads.

That night I went back and looked at all my business numbers and my personal numbers and looked again at their interaction.

And then calculated the relationship number for me and my business and burst out laughing again.

Major a-ha moment!

So this is what my business has been trying to get me to understand for the last five years and I have been fighting it.

Wow.

You see, my business has a 3 Life Path and I have a 9 Life Path. So our relationship number is 3: joy, self-expression, nurturing, communicating, creative, passion, lighthearted, enthusiastic, and friendly.

My business wanted to be fun and playful and I thought it needed to be more serious, practical, and professional. Hmmm.... can you see theproblem?

Looking back on my business, I can see when I was passionate or enthusiastic about something it manifested beautifully.

When I was doing what I thought (or had been taught) to do to grow my business it often felt like climbing a mountain or slogging through mud. It was a struggle. While it might have some success, there was no joy in it.

After a few of those instances over the years my business dug in its heels last year and said “No. I want to play. I want to create. I want to have fun. This feels like too much work.”

I joked that my business was having a tantrum, late last year. Intuitively I understood this. Intellectually I didn’t understand why though.

Once that piece dropped into place both my intuitive mind and my logic mind got it.

Now we can course correct and realign with the intent for this business. Interestingly, this happened in March, which is a 3 vibration! Coincidence? I don’t think so.

You might be wondering why I am talking about my business as if it is a person. Well, it might not be a person, per see, but it is an energy entity.

business couple high-fivingWhether you realize it or not, when you create a business, it takes on a life of its own (it has its own energetic pattern, which numerology or astrology can help you understand).

If you can work together for a common goal, it can be incredibly rewarding and successful.

If you are working towards different goals or ideals, the energy is divided and confused and struggle ensues.

If you have a business, you might want to run the numbers and see if your energies are aligned toward a common goal, way of behaving and way of being. Different numbers prefer different tactics and resonate with different characteristics and qualities. What works for one might not work for another.

For instance, if my business relationship number was a 1, then the heart of the business is about leading, innovating, and ideas.

  • If the business needed to express this way and I was trying to be a collaborator, follower and doing the tried and true… the business would falter.
  • Even if I did everything by the book.
  • Because the underlying energies were in resistance to the external actions and activities.

If my business relationship number was a 2, then the heart of the business is around collaborating, partnering, teamwork and duality.

  • If I wanted to do everything by myself, it would get bogged down.
  • If I tried to run the business as if it were a 1 vibration and take the lead to innovate, I might find my ideas didn’t pan out like I thought.
  • Yet the brilliance in a 2 business is the synergies and quantum leaps possible when two people are working together toward a common idea, building on each other’s strengths and insights.

If my business relationship number was a 5, the heart of the business would be freedom, flexibility, communication and change.

  • If I approached doing business in a predictable, dull and repetitious way with many rules and regulations, the energy of the business would either be extinguished or rebel, shaking things up so change could happen.

Of course, this is just touching the surface of the interactions between the numbers.

To gain a deeper understanding you could get a numerology report done or sit down and do it for yourself. There are a number of good books out there that can help you.

Whether or not a numerology report is something you choose to do, I suggest you at least look at the basics yourself and determine your relationship number for you and your business.

By the way, you can do the same thing for you and your job! The day you signed your papers to start your job (which may or may not be the same date as your first day of work, depending on the job) would be considered the birthdate.

To find out the Life Path number for your job, or your business, add together the month + day + year of its start date and reduce it to a single digit number (unless it is a master number 11, 22 or 33).

Do the same for your birthdate (month + day +year), adding each number individually.

To get the relationship number for you and your job, or you and your business, you add together both Life Path numbers.

Here’s two examples for you:

Jane’s Job Start Date:  2/14/2007

2+1+4+2+0+0+7 = 16; reduce it: 6+1 = 7; 7 = Life Path for Jane’s job

Jane’s Birthdate: 7/28/ 1972

7+2+8+1+9+7+2 = 36; reduce 3+6 = 9; Jane’s Life Path number is 9

Relationship number for Jane & her job: 7 + 9 = 16, reduce 1+6 = 7

The relationship number is 7

Beth’s Business Start Date: 6/15/2013

6+1+5+2+0+1+2 = 17; reduce 1+7 = 8; 8 = the life path for Beth’s Business

Beth’s Birthdate:  1/6/ 1968

1+6+1+9+6+8 = 31; reduce 3+1 = 4; Beth’s life path is 4

Relationship number for Beth & her Business: 8 + 4 = 12, reduce 1+2 = 3

The relationship number is 3

Go ahead and figure out your own and see if it sheds some new understanding on the relationship you are having with your job or with your business!

Love & blessings,
Karen
